Metrics
Measuring All Aspects Impacting the Medical Expense Ratio PDF Print E-mail

It is amazing that an expense ratio is often crafted with a vast medical management department, and yet most if not all management may be at a loss to define how each individual's activities benefit the organization and its members. This means that each daily undertaking that a nurse, social worker, non-clinical team member, etc., undertakes must be measured and aggregated collectively to be compared to projections on a periodic basis. This allows an organization to adjust much more rapidly based on the results of these processes.

This improves the likelihood of appropriate medical expense managing regardless of product line (Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Commercial, etc.). This will also engender confidence from the organization's clients.

Organizations must boldly attack this under-served issue to take full advantage of the benefits of metrics.
